Hometown Hangout is an exclusive, invite-only event that has brought together thousands of executives since 2012. With 500+ attendees expected each year, this event remains highly sought-after in a competitive space for startups, tech companies, and middle market companies alike. More than 30 attending industries represent the innovative ecosystem of firms and partners that bring ideas to life.
The inaugural Hometown Hangover Cure event launched in 2012 with Austin Ventures as presenting sponsor, along with HomeAway and Whale Shark Media (now RetailMeNot).
In 2016, Kim Hughes, former Director of Communications for AV, took full ownership of the event and continued the tradition.
In 2018, vcfo acquired full ownership of the event from Kim Hughes and continues to promote the annual event.
In 2024, vcfo evolved the name to Hometown Hangout to reflect the uniquely local and homegrown purpose of the event. Hometown Hangout provides the local business community an opportunity to connect and serves as the authentic representation of the middle market, innovation ecosystem in Central Texas and beyond.
#HTHatx is an unofficial event and has no association with SXSW. However, it provides a perfect segue to the authentic music, food and beverage that Austin is known and loved for.
